  1. What is the difference between terminal velocity, orbital velocity, and escape velocity?

    1. That is the Flippin' Vocab HW... Figure it out!

    2. Terminal velocity is A steady speed achieved by a free falling object through a gas or a liquid, while
Orbital velocity is The minimum velocity At which a body must Move to maintain a given orbit, and escape velocity is The lowest amount of velocity that a Body must have in order to escape the
Gravitational attraction Of a planet. Orbital and escape velocity are alike, accept orbital velocity is so a body can stay in an orbit, when escape velocity is what a body must have to escape an orbit. :^{)

  2. Why doesn't mars have an atmosphere?

    Replies
    1. It DOES have an atmosphere. It just does not have Oxygen in it. It is made mainly of Carbon Dioxide.

  4. Why does Mars have less gravity than Earth?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Because it is smaller. The smaller the object, the less gravity it has.

      Delete
    2. More specifically... it has less mass.

  5. Will humans have to inhabit mars eventually?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Possibly, if a solar costastrophy were to happen in millions or billions of years, and if humans are still populating the Earth by then

      Delete
    2. If we develope the technology to reach there and something Happens to Earth like major war or something life-threatening then we might have to.

  7. What happened to mars's atmosphere?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The atmosphere of earth has changed drastically over the past 4.5 billion years (and continues to change)due to chemical factors, life, volcanic activity, temperature, radiation from sun, etc. It is reasonable to assume Mars has a similar dynamic.

  10. Could we just fill Mars up with plants and they will turn all the carbon dioxide into oxygen?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Good thought.

Photosynthesis requires C02 + H20 + sunlight. Lots of Liquid water?! That could be a problem. Also, plants require nutrients from the soil such as Nitrogen. Scientists are looking at this on a small scale.

  11. Will the polar ice caps on mars ever unfreeze and there will be rivers flowing " again"

    1. Doesn't appear to be that much water... but, who knows?

  12. Will the space station ever reach mars?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The International Space Station is meant to orbit very closely to earth... However, it may serve as the construction site for a vehicle to mars.

  13. Mckayla wants to know if there's any way to lower the radiation levels on mars

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Doesn't appear to be and that may be a big problem.

  14. If mars is the closest planet to the sun, why are their polar ice caps?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Actually Mercury is the closest planet to he sun. The order goes Mercury,Venus, Earth, Mars, etc.

  15. Will mars ever be inhabitable?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think, on a small scale, YES! However, it will always be a production to live there.

    1. Countless numbers of other galaxies each containing countless numbers of stars and solar systems like ours.

  19. Why can't we travel to other galaxies , other than the Milky Way, to look for extraterrestrial life??

    ReplyDelete

    1. The voyager space crafts will eventually.

      Delete
    2. But why can't humans??

      Delete
    3. It would also take a while to leave the galaxy

      Delete
    4. Yea, its gonna take the voyager craft a thousand or so years to reach the closest star.

      Delete
    5. It is not that we can't it is just that even if we left now we would die before we reach another galaxy. Also it would be challenging to have enough food, water, etc. so it really isn't a question of why can't we but when will we.

  20. What is hostile life is found on mars

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If hostile life is found on Mars, and this is just my guess, we will most likely not plan on inhabiting Mars and try to make peace with the foriegn life.

      Delete
  21. Why was Earth the planet chosen to have life and water on it and not any of the other planets??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well it has to do with our posistioning to the sun. Also I believe that it also has to do with the size of Earth holding more atmosphere for living things to breath. Lastly our moon plays a huge part because without it evolution would have been harder and we still might just be tiny micro organisims.

  23. Is it possible to restore mars to it's former state with water and possibly life making Mars habitable?

    ReplyDelete
  24. When will Earth and Mars line up again?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. By "line up" do you mean a good time to launch something to Mars? If so, that happens about every 26 months.

      Delete
  25. What would happen if someone outside of NASA launched a rocket containing people into orbit?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They have. Other countries and some private companies like Virgin Galactic and SpaceX have launch crafts into orbit. Private space travel is becoming a reality.

  26. Why is mars 1 of the other planets that we can walk on.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Outer planets are all made of gas. Inner planets are too hot. Mars is most similar to earth.

    1. HUGE project. Atmospheric change usually happens in orders of 1,000s to 1,000,000s of years. (IDK: prob be easier to just fix earth)

    2. Yes, HD 40307g, was discovered in a multi-world solar system 42 light years from the Sun (I got this information from http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/revealed-new-earthlike-planet-that-could-have-a-lifesupporting-climate-and-water-8297750.html)

  38. Could there possibly be another planet that we haven't discovered yet that is exactly like ours

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There is a high possibility that there is one in another galaxy that is why we sent the voyagers to other galaxy's

      Delete
    2. Well nothing can be exactly the same but we have discovered a planet simillar to ours.

      Delete
    3. Well if the universe truly is endless then there could be many planets exactly 100% like ours. Basically, anything is possible.

      Delete
  39. Could it be possible to put like a big giant glass bubble around the surface of mars and put oxygen in it so humans could go there?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oxygen will run out and you can't keep going to earth to get more oxygen

      Delete
    2. No it would be easier terraforming

      Delete
    3. Would need a bubble. Gravity would hold it there.

      Delete
    4. he means wouldn't

    5. we wouldn't need a bubble

    1. We can't answer that, but if you ask for an opinion that would be better.

    2. No one knows exactly when we will be able to live on the moon, but honestly I think it would be a waste of time and money.

  44. Wow that is a long time

    ReplyDelete
  45. How did they even come up with this?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Has NASA tried to land on other plants? how do they know they cant live there?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well we know that we can't live on the gas planets and the ones closer to the sun are too hot, so what is the point if we know we can't survive?

      Delete
  47. What is beyond a black hole?? As in if our galaxy and our universe got sucked into a black hole, where would it lead to??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, as far as I know there isn't anything past a black hole, instead it crushes everything and destroys it. So basically if our galaxy was sucked into a black hole it would no longer exist.

  50. If the Earth's gravity accelerates objects at 9.8 meters per second per second then why doesn't the I.S.S. have it's speed increased by 9.8 meters per second per second, or the Earth's speed around the Sun?- Katelyn H.

  51. If the big bang therory and that the universe will condence into one once more is true then do you think that we are the first universe to be made or do you believe there have been other universes before us and why?- Katelyn H.
